Support La Lupe and Indika House Employees After Devastating Fire
On Saturday night, a fire broke out at an electronics store on Myrtle and Broadway, affecting several local businesses, including beloved family-owned restaurants La Lupe and Indika House. Both restaurants are now temporarily closed as they undergo extensive cleaning and await city approval to reopen.
Karla Munoz, owner of La Lupe, shared the challenges they’re facing:
"The fire started at the cellphone store around the corner on Saturday at around 8:30 p.m. Firefighters arrived quickly and evacuated everyone. Most businesses were affected by the smoke. Unfortunately, firefighters had to break through our ceiling, and water flooded the basement where we do all our food prep. While the upstairs has no fire damage, we're now having it professionally cleaned to remove toxic fumes and smoke. Gas has been shut off, and we don’t know when we’ll be able to reopen. We've been working nonstop, hoping to reopen tomorrow or the next day. We can't afford to stay closed—our employees need their jobs."
This GoFundMe aims to support the hardworking employees of La Lupe and Indika House who are now out of work during the holiday season. Your donations will provide immediate financial relief to these staff members as they navigate this difficult time.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact. Help us support these local workers and keep the heart of our community alive.
