Support Lacey's Fight Against Feline Breast Cancer

Sweet Lacey has been diagnosed with mammary carcinoma (feline breast cancer). At only four years old, it is incredibly rare for cats this young to develop this type of cancer. Fortunately, the cancer is limited to one mammary gland and has not metastasized, although feline breast cancer is often aggressive and metastasizes in over 50% of cats. She has been recommended for a bilateral mastectomy and likely adjuvant chemotherapy. Since her tumor is small and localized (stage I-II), with aggressive surgery and chemo, we are hopeful pursuing treatment will extend and improve her quality of life. The veterinary oncologist has quoted $4500 per side for the surgery and approx $800 per round of chemo (likely 6 total treatments).

Anyone who has met Lacey knows how loving, social, and sweet she is. We are absolutely devastated by this diagnosis and want to whatever we can to give her as many good years as possible. As a recent medical school graduate with plenty of debt and high moving costs associated with relocating from Columbus to Richmond for residency, money is tight. We are already submitting applications to numerous non-profits and donation-based grants for pets with cancer, but I could use any help I can get to help make her surgery more affordable.
