I was outside sitting on my front lawn, minding my own business one day, when out from behind a car came the most beautiful black cat I had ever seen. The sleek feline came prancing up to me without a fear in the world, begging at my feet and pining for love. From that day forward, she refused to leave my side.
A few weeks went by, and I noticed that her belly was extending, appearing swollen. I took her to get seen and lo and behold, this feral had come to me pregnant! My veterinarian told me she was already a few weeks in and informed me that she would be giving birth to at least 2-3 kittens.
I could not simply abandon this cat, especially in such a grave time of need. And so I stuck by her, providing her the comfort and safety of a place to call home. She became an indoor only cat, and I pampered her from head to toe. She was a very hungry mama and always wanted more after every meal. And all the while, her belly grew and grew.
One night, I noticed she was unusually vocal, persistently meowing up at me and asking me to follow her. So I did. At last, her time for labor had come, and she wanted me to be there for all of it every step of the way.
The first two kittens came into the world flawlessly. They were tiny and helpless, but mama cat came to their aid immediately. Then suddenly, a third kitten popped out! At this point, I thought she had done it, that was all of them, there couldn't possibly be any more based on what my vet had told me. You can only imagine my surprise when, half an hour later, a fourth kitten slowly emerged! I stared in wonder, rooting for my mama cat and doing whatever I could to help ease the pain and make her as comfortable as possible.
Mama cat - whom I named Lacy - gave birth to four beautiful and healthy kittens on October 9th of 2024. Lacy raised and nurtured them with the utmost care and attention, always giving her all to their wellbeing. It was clear to me how attached she was to her children, and I couldn't in a million years imagine ever taking them away from her.
And so here we are now; a household of five highly unexpected cats, living on a low budget, and doing everything in my power to provide for them. They come first in everything I do.
Shortly after Lacy had finished nursing her kittens, I brought her to get bloodwork done, had her spayed, and promptly vaccinated. Now, the kittens will need all of their shots, as well as neuter/spay surgeries. As you can imagine, these costs add up to an overwhelming balance.
If anyone has the heart or capability to donate anything at all to help me provide for these five wonderful felines, I would be beyond grateful. The funds I receive will strictly go to these precious cats and towards their vet bills. All supplies are needed and greatly appreciated, but food especially. They are very hungry maturing kitties - four months old now - with huge personalities, and they are growing bigger each day. Help me support them. Help me give them the life that they deserve to live.
