The news is out! Richmond VA's most beloved music recording studio, Minimum Wage Recording, owned and operated by Lance Kohler since 2001 is closing shop in Oregon Hill this week! What in the world are Richmond musicians going to do?
Well, "it's really not as bad as it sounds" as Lance hopes to open a new studio in Staunton, VA. He will be building it from scratch, just like he did Minimum Wage. Those of us who know Lance know he can and will do that! But the fact remains that Lance has been EXTREMELY generous to the RVA music community over the past two decades, so we have created this gofundme to help Lance build his dream studio in the countryside, help get his mom resettled nearby and cover the numerous costs of moving. It's literally the least we can do!

Lance is the damn coolest dude, the baddest drummer and has the patience and ears of the gods. His mission was: “To make [a recording studio] affordable enough that bands could take more time in the studio and really dig into doing some art.” He accomplished that and more. The success of the RVA music scene wouldn't exist without Lance and Minimum Wage.
