Update: We are heartbroken to report, Lane Passed away 10/12/24 from complications from his accident in Oklahoma City. He was surrounded by his family. We continue to need support for my mom who will need funds for funeral costs and bringing him home. Lane was the main provider and unfortunately did not have an estate plan.
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Hearts,
We are reaching out to you during a time of great need for our beloved stepdad and grandfather, husband, brother, and uncle Lane Firebaugh. Lane recently experienced a devastating accident while working as a semi truck driver in Oklahoma. While loading a vehicle onto his trailer, he fell from a height of 10-15 feet, resulting in life-altering injuries.
Lane has sustained severe injuries, including:
- All 12 ribs broken, with 4 detached from his backbone
- A fractured pelvic circle
- Damage to his spinal cord wings
He has already undergone one major surgery where plates and screws were installed in his back, as well as an external fixator placed at the front. Unfortunately, he has had to rely on a ventilator and feeding tube during his recovery. Doctors have informed us that he will need to remain non-ambulatory and non-weight bearing for 12-14 weeks, with the external fixator likely remaining for about six months.
The good news is that Lane’s medical team has indicated that he may be discharged to a skilled nursing facility next week, and they believe it would be best for him to return to Arizona to be near family during this critical time.
However, transporting Lane back home and ensuring he receives the necessary care will come at a significant cost. We estimate that we will need approximately $30,000 to cover transportation and the additional care that falls outside of his health coverage.
Lane has been a pillar of strength and support in our lives, and it’s our turn to be there for him as he faces this challenging journey. We are reaching out to our community for financial support to help us bring him home, where he can continue to heal surrounded by his loved ones.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference. Your generosity will help provide Lane with the care he needs and allow our family to be together during this difficult time.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support. Together, we can help Lane on his road to recovery.
With love and gratitude,
Our Entire Family
