The LaRee Bryant Homestead Fund
Donation protected
Dear Fellow Alumni/ae,
As you may be aware, our longtime administrator, LaRee Bryant, passed away in October after a prolonged illness. LaRee provided crucial and consistent support to one or both the Harvard Club of Dallas and the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas, playing an integral role in their success. For 34 years, from 1981 until her retirement in 2015, she served as the backbone of these organizations, providing invaluable support that helped them thrive and solidify their reputations as some of the most recognized and vibrant alumni clubs in Harvard’s global network.
This initiative is a joint effort by alumni/ae of both the Harvard Club of Dallas and the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas. Brian Buffington, current President of the HBS Club of Dallas, collaborated closely with Dulany Howland in drafting this appeal and coordinating efforts to honor LaRee. Dulany, who has been a pillar of the Harvard Club of Dallas, was the driving force behind this project—suggesting it, identifying the need, and catalyzing action. It is fitting to note that without Dulany's leadership and vision, the Harvard Club of Dallas would not be what it is today. His role in finding LaRee and mentoring her in her early days with the club speaks volumes about his dedication and foresight.
LaRee’s daughter, Laura Cranford, shared with Dulany and Brian how much LaRee loved and cherished the members of both clubs, considering them not just colleagues but friends. In turn, LaRee became a beloved member of our community, touching the lives of countless alumni. While LaRee requested no formal funeral or memorial, Laura plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. For those wishing to send cards or condolences, they can be mailed to Laura at LaRee’s home: 3817 Yellowstone, Irving, TX 75062.
To honor LaRee's profound contributions, we are raising funds to assist her family. Laura has inherited LaRee’s home and plans to move in with her daughter and three grandchildren—LaRee’s great-grandchildren. However, the home requires significant renovations to accommodate their family. A trusted family friend has generously offered to complete the renovations for $13,000, covering only the cost of supplies and basic labor. To help meet this need, we are launching a GoFundMe campaign, "The LaRee Bryant Homestead Fund," with a target goal of $13,000.
How to Donate: To contribute, please click the “Donate Now” Button and make your donation. Every contribution helps, no matter the amount. Donors will be recognized in a special remembrance of LaRee, and a photo of her will be displayed in the renovated home as a tribute to the love and appreciation the Harvard community has for her.
Important Note: This fundraiser is organized by individuals involved with the Harvard Club of Dallas and the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas. While the clubs support this effort, it is not an official initiative of either organization. Please also note that contributions to this fund are not tax-deductible as they are personal gifts to support LaRee’s family.
LaRee was a cornerstone of our community, and this effort is a heartfelt way to give back to someone who gave so much to us. Thank you for joining us in honoring her memory and supporting her family during this time.
