Thanks for being here. I’m Lauren. On September 24th of this year, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer after having clear scans just 6 months prior. This is the second time in just under two and a half years, despite only being 27 years old, in great physical health, and having no genetic link to breast cancer. The first time I was diagnosed, I took the path of receiving a lumpectomy and proton therapy but denied to receive either chemotherapy or hormonal therapy because of the side effects and consequences I’d have to endure for the rest of my life. I chose to try to figure it out all on my own- doing my own research, trying different diets and supplements, expecting I wouldn’t see the return of what felt like a total anomaly in the first place. This time, I’m doing what I wished I would have done the first time; receive full support from an Integrative Cancer Clinic that is able to help me understand the root cause, approach this from more angles than JUST the physical, and bridge the best of BOTH conventional and alternative medicine so that I may heal without compromising my health, well-being, and vitality. Unfortunately, anything outside of the “standard of care” is not covered by insurance and requires out-of-pocket payments.
