Support Laurie Lee's Battle Against Cancer

Our mom is a special education teacher in the community and has been dealing with reoccurring cancer since 1997. She lost her left eye and eye orbit to a rare form of fibrosarcoma in 2003 and is also a survivor of thyroid cancer that was diagnosed in 2009. She has been in remission for 15 years, but this past October she began experiencing symptoms that were similar to what she experienced during her first cancer diagnosis. After many tests and hospital visits, we discovered that her cancer has returned, affecting the surrounding area where her eye and eye orbit was removed. The same fibrosarcoma that took her eye has now been spreading throughout her facial tissue and has the potential to spread to other vital areas, including her brain, unless treated immediately. With everything that she has been dealing with since her diagnosis, her ability to work has been greatly affected. Our mom has been teaching for over 20 years and is very passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with cognitive and developmental disabilities. We have been working closely with her team of doctors to come up with the best plan for treatment, and during this difficult time we want to be able to alleviate as much stress as possible so that she can fully focus on her recovery and be able to continue doing what she loves. Our mom is one of the strongest people we know, and although cancer has presented many challenges for her, she has always made it through and maintained her optimism and her faith. We know that she’s going to make it through this and come out on the other side of it stronger than ever. We greatly appreciate any amount that you’re able to donate.
