Support Leigha's fight against breast cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends & family,
For those who don’t know, my mom, Leigha, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, and she has been receiving chemo treatments ever since. If you’ve ever met my mom, you know that she is incredibly giving, loving, and capable, always supporting not just me and our family but also so many of our friends and community.
Leigha is a private person, and she has worked extremely hard for so many years in order to continue being able to provide that support, to herself and to our family. Asking for help from the many people who love her does not come naturally!
But the reality is that this diagnosis and treatment have been physically and emotionally draining. Leigha has been continuing to work throughout her treatment despite the huge physical toll of the chemotherapy, because treatment is expensive and so is missing work. What she actually needs (and deserves) is rest–the way that this treatment will best be able to do its job is if she is able to take the time that she needs to truly recover.
Ideally she wouldn’t have to work at all through this time! But any rest is better than no rest. She has been through 3 chemo treatments so far and has 3 more scheduled for now, followed by a surgery; and we are hoping to make it possible for her to take off two weeks per month during those treatment rounds in order to support her recovery.
So we are humbly asking our community for help. For now, we are hoping to raise $15,000, which will help us cover:
The lost income from taking off two weeks per month for recovery
Medical costs (labs, co-pays, chemo drugs, anything else not covered by insurance)
Other types of support that my mom has been using (for example, paying a close friend to help provide meals)
I am truly so grateful for any amount you can give to help support my mom’s rest and recovery, and she is too. Please also share this GoFundMe link with your communities and networks to help us raise the full amount.
Thank you all in advance,
Aleigha
P.S. Visits and conversations with friends about her diagnosis have been overwhelming to my mom, but she definitely does want and need your prayers and good wishes–please reach out to me directly with your messages for my mom and any support you’d like to offer. Thank you <3
