Support Leo's Heart Recovery Journey

My name is Michael Kelley, and I am a Lieutenant in the Boston Police Department and a lifelong resident of West Roxbury. I am reaching out to help raise funds for my sister, Brenda Schofield, to pay medical bills for her son Leo, who is also my godson. Leo is 19 years old and has been battling a heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which he was diagnosed with a few years ago. He has been in and out of the hospital with this condition.

On Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, while Leo was at work, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He has been in a medically induced coma since then. He is currently in the ICU at Boston’s Children’s Hospital.

Brenda is a single mother and has three other children at home. Leo is a graduate of Catholic Memorial, and his brothers are still attending CM as well. They have a younger sister who is in 7th grade at Fontbonne Academy.

The funds raised will go directly towards Leo’s medical expenses, rehabilitation, and assistance in making sure the family gets the support they need. We know this is a tough time of year for everyone financially, but no matter how small, a contribution will make a significant difference in his journey to recovery.
