Hello everyone,
My name is Lexi, and I am a proud member of the James Wood High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). I'm reaching out to you today with exciting news and a heartfelt request for support.
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to compete at the Virginia FCCLA State Leadership and Recognition Conference in Virginia Beach. Out of all the talented contestants, I placed second! This achievement has earned me a coveted spot to represent James Wood High School at the 2025 National Leadership Conference this summer in Orlando, Florida!
This is a monumental opportunity for me to further develop my leadership skills, network with students from across the nation, and compete at the highest level. While at the conference, I will participate in valuable leadership workshops, connect with inspiring individuals, and proudly showcase the projects I've been passionately working on through FCCLA.
For those unfamiliar with FCCLA, it's a remarkable student-led organization dedicated to empowering young people to become leaders and responsible community members. Through FCCLA, I've been able to make a real difference in my school and community by:
• Planning and designing a free food pantry for students facing food insecurity.
• Raising awareness about eating disorders through impactful activities.
• Organizing a 3K and sharing vital nutrition information to support the American Heart Association.
• Raising $500 for the Virginia Epilepsy Foundation.
• Creating "adopt me" bandanas and comforting snuffle towels for the animals at the SPCA.
• Conducting food science investigations to develop a healthier smoothie with superfoods.
• And so much more!
The dedication and hard work of our entire James Wood High School FCCLA chapter have also been recognized on a national scale! Out of 5,500 chapters nationwide, our work in Career Connection has been selected as a National Model! This prestigious honor places us among the top 7 most outstanding chapters in the entire country, and our achievement will be celebrated at the national conference in July. While this is an incredible honor, each student is responsible for covering their expenses to attend the National Leadership Conference. The costs associated with this invaluable experience, including travel, lodging, registration, competition fees, and some touring opportunities, amount to approximately $2,300. This doesn't even include food and any necessary local transportation.
This is where I humbly ask for your support. Attending this conference will not only allow me to compete and represent our nationally recognized chapter but will also provide me with invaluable leadership training and networking opportunities that will benefit me and our community for years to come. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in helping me reach my goal. You can easily donate through my GoFundMe page. If you prefer, you can also send checks made out to James Wood High School. If you decide to write a check, please include my name in the memo line.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your consideration and support during this exciting chapter in my life.
Sincerely,
Lexi
