What a HISTORIC moment to be named the first-ever international ambassador for Guyana Pride! In Guyana, same-sex intimacy is still criminalized, with people facing imprisonment simply for being who they are. The laws fail to recognize trans identities and non-binary individuals, effectively erasing many of our loved ones from the legal system.

Guyana is the only country in South America and the only Caribbean nation where these discriminatory laws remain unchallenged. This must change. Up until 2018, Drag was illegal in Guyana. I was just starting my drag career at that time in Canada. If I was in Guyana, I could have been arrested and jailed. SASOD Guyana won a challenge against the Guyana government regarding cross-dressing legislation. However, there is still no recognition of trans identity and did not extend to trans folks. Shout out to SASOD Guyana for their amazing work!!!

I’m honoured to be the 1st International Pride Ambassador for the 2025 Guyana Pride Festival. With my parents being from Guyana, this cause is deeply personal to me. Pride is more than a celebration; it’s an act of resistance. By taking up public space, we show courage and solidarity. Pride inspires others to come out and fight for their rights, no matter the circumstances.

As a drag queen, it’s important for me to use my platform to advocate for change and support our community. My tagline says it all: "just be gay."

I’m partnering with SASOD Guyana and Drag Academy to fundraise for this cause. I have an ambitious goal of $15,000, and I need your help. Your support will help us campaign to repeal these outdated and discriminatory laws, paving the way for a more inclusive and just society. Let’s keep pushing for a world where everyone can love and express themselves freely.
