Support for the LGBTQIA community in Kakuma

Hello, I`m Ennis (he/she) and have started this campaign in the name of my friend Prosper who currently lives in Kakuma, a refugee camp in the north of Kenya with approximately 100.000 residents, with Prospers community counting 357 people. Not only is it hard enough to fullfill basic needs under the circumstances of living in such a camp, with the UNHCR not having actually realized any offes of help, but with the systematic discrimination of homosexuality and transgender people under the Kenyan constitution the life of the queer community in Kakuma is made even harder. A lack of basic needs like food, medication and shelter as well as homophobic and transphobic discrimination and violence are sadly commonly occuring problems Prosper and other people of the queer community have to face in Kakuma.

This campaign will therefore be used to gather donations to support the queer people of Kakuma and their basic needs. As I am in contact with Prosper I can and will give you updates on where and why money is needed and what difference your donations make.

Currently (as of January 9th) Prosper asked me to draw attention to the case of Jordan, a transwoman also living in Kakuma, who recently was arrested because of the discriminatory Anti-Homosexuality act of the Ugandan government while visiting Kampala. Thanks to donations of a previous campaign Jordan was released on January 5th but sadly her phone, money and other belongings have been taken during her imprisonment and she currently has no way to get out of Kampala. Prosper asked for 90$ for Jordan to be able to get home safely of which we already organized 30€ for, meaning Jordan still needs 60$/58€ to be able to travel back home.
