Support Life-Changing Surgeries in Honduras with Amber
Donation protected
I have some exciting news to share! I have been accepted to join a surgical mission trip to Honduras with One World Surgery!
I am so grateful for everything I’ve been given in life, and my job as a Certified Surgical Technologist has been a big part of it. I have seen and done some amazing things to help others in the last 9 years in the operating room. I believe it’s my time to give back!
Surgical Missions in Honduras
One World Surgery has a surgery center in Honduras, the Holy Family Surgery Center. It opened in 2008 and has three operating rooms, six clinic/overnight bays, a dental clinic, and an eye clinic.
I will be one of two Certified Surgical Technologists scrubbing in on both orthopedic and gynecological cases for the week. I will fly in on a Saturday, have orientation and case review on Sunday, and then cases will begin Monday morning and continue through Friday. These surgeries will be life-changing for our patients as most do not have access to healthcare.
It’s going to be busy! But I honestly can’t think of a better reason to be exhausted.
Why One World Surgery?
I’ve been a member of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) since graduating. They are amazing about sharing resources with us about continuing education opportunities, job opportunities, and volunteering. One of my monthly magazines is where I learned about One World Surgery and their missions. After learning more about the organization online and through emails, they really seemed like a good fit for me. So, I filled out the application and hoped for the best!
What’s Next?
After being chosen for the mission and completing all the forms needed, I'm now in the fundraising step! This is where I could use a little help! I will be gone for a week and will be taking PTO from my full-time job as a CST. The fundraising goal I have is $3,000. This will pay $1,000 to One World Surgery, which will cover my housing and food for the week along with a donation allowing the patients to receive medical care at no cost to them! $1,500 for my airfare and baggage. And $500 which will help for my vaccinations and needed supplies for the trip!
This is where I ask for your support and generosity. Will you support me in this mission and help make a difference in the lives of individuals seeking help? Any donation helps, and your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on the lives of others.
If you are interested in making a larger tax-deductible donation, please reach out to me personally as that is an option as well!
If the trip in canceled or I am unable to attend for any reason, fundraising efforts with be given as donation to One World Surgery.
Even if you are unable to donate at this time, please share my mission with others! Your thoughts and well-wishes are valued and much appreciated!
Stay tuned for updates!
