Meet Lily, a dedicated Dharma practitioner living close to Tokyo. Deeply moved by Triratna’s unique and beautiful expression of the Dharma, she’s been quietly and faithfully practicing since 2021, after meeting me - Aryapala - through Susana in Tokyo. But she’s had very little direct experience of Triratna sangha in person — something she longs for.

Now, Lily has a rare opportunity to come to the UK in July and August 2025. She’s been invited to attend retreats at Vajrasana and Adhisthana, spend time in the London Buddhist Centre community, and volunteer at Adhisthana — the heart of Triratna. This is a chance for Lily to truly immerse herself in spiritual friendship and collective practice. With Susana from Tokyo also coming to the UK, it’s a beautiful moment of the Japan sangha meeting at Adhisthana!

But she can’t do it alone.

Lily needs help covering around £1500 in travel and retreat costs, at a time when the Japanese Yen is very weak and international travel costs are quite high. This is a big leap — not just financially, but spiritually.

I finally met Lily in-person when I travelled back to Japan in 2023 — and I really want to help her fundraise. You couldn’t meet a more friendly, hospitable host than Lily. She’s not only committed to her own practice, but also helps build sangha in Japan. She was instrumental in organising the first Triratna retreat near her hometown of Atami — a beautiful hot spring town nestled in the mountains by the south coast.

She’s connected with many of those involved in Triratna Tokyo, including Sraddhapa who she regularly studies with, Akuppa, Dharmasara, Maitrisiddhi, and Shraddharochani — and is helping grow something very precious.
