Help Support Lily's Marine Science Internship

Hello everyone! My name is Lily Hunter, and I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to intern with “Love the Oceans” in Jangamo Bay in Mozambique, Africa for six weeks during this summer! This is my first internship, and I’m so excited for this amazing opportunity! This internship will help develop research skills and I'll be working alongside experts in marine science, but I need your help to make it happen!

During this internship, I will be developing research skills focusing on marine sciences and research studies including whale/ray surveys, fishery research, conservation science, coral reef surveys, ocean trash research, and drone surveys of the ocean. Not only will this internship focus on marine science, but we’ll be helping paint the schools and teaching the local students about marine conservation along with swimming lessons. I can’t wait to learn more and to even teach others about the ocean! Marine sciences have always intrigued me since I was a child, and I’ve continued this passion for many years. My current career/ graduation track is focused on zoology and veterinary where I hope to either research marine animal behaviors or have a wildlife veterinary clinic to rehabilitate injured animals. I’ve always wanted to help animals since I was a kid!

While I’m working hard to fund this experience, I need your help to bridge the financial costs! The total cost for the six-week program is £2505 ($3242.72 USD). This covers the five-week research program, one week of scuba diving training, housing for the six weeks (including electric and water), three meals a day, research equipment being used and maintained, snorkeling/diving gear, and equipment to help teach the kids in the local schools. The additional funds will be used for matters that the program doesn’t cover including flights ($3000), visa expenses, travel and dive insurance ($395), vaccine requirements, and cell service to keep friends and family updated!

There is a lot that goes into this opportunity that I've been gifted, and I need help turning this dream into a reality!
