Support Lin during her recovery from Hydrocephalus

Hi, our names are Lindsay and Stephanie. We are fundraising to support our mother, Lin, during her recovery process from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. This is a rare condition in adults affecting a mere 2% of people ages 65+. Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) is a form of communicating hydrocephalus in which excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up in the ventricles, leading to normal or slightly elevated cerebrospinal fluid pressure. The fluid build-up causes the ventricles to enlarge and the pressure inside the head to increase, compressing surrounding brain tissue and leading to neurological complications. Thankfully, neurology is reviewing her scans to determine the next steps in the months ahead.

The symptoms she has been experiencing the last few years are changes in mood, thinking, walking, and bladder function. Since her condition went undiagnosed for some time, she has suffered an unimaginable number of falls. This has made rehabilitating after spinal fusion back surgery, as well as her foot surgery this spring, very difficult. Her most recent fall last week resulted in a broken wrist which she has surgery scheduled to repair it this week.

Due to her balance issues and cognitive impairments, it has made it unsafe for her to be home alone. Slowly, this has prevented our father from working the amount he needs to. This has inevitably affected their financial situation. Our parents have dedicated their entire lives to serving the community and their church family. In their time of need, we are asking you to consider how you might be able to help make a difference.
