Support Linkin Galdonez's Recovery From A Gunshot
Donation protected
Aloha folks, I'm Jessica Galdonez from Memphis, here with the Galdonez family in support of Linkin's long recovery from the incident that happened on Feb. 5th.
Please go to the link below for more information.
A quick summary of this incredible story is that Linkin was leaving work to go home. While traveling on the interstate a vehicle passed Linkin and 2 people came out of the rear door windows and started shooting. Linkin got caught in the crossfire, was hit, and then crashed into the guardrail on the side of the road. Luckily a young man saw what happened and immediately pulled over and called an ambulance where he was sent to Regional One ER.
Once there he told the staff what happened and that he believed he was shot.
In the head.
The medical staff did a CT Scan on Linkin and saw that the bullet was lodged in his brain.
Linkin then told the staff his mother's cell phone number so that they could call her to get authorization to operate on Linkin, yes with a gunshot wound to the head and a bullet still in the brain. Linkin was in surgery somewhere between 5-6 hours. The doctors removed half his skull to allow the brain to swell without damaging itself but left the bullet in the brain. They said it would do more damage to the brain if they were to try and remove it. Once the swelling of the brain goes down the doctors will insert his skull back but will be at least a few months from now. The surgeon also told us that the bullet entered between his eyes and traveled more or less down the middle of his brain and stopped in the back of his head on the right side.
Linkin's survival and condition were nothing short of a miracle. His progress in the hospital was incredible. He was in the ICU for 5 days, transferred to inpatient rehab on his birthday, and discharged 8 days later on Feb 18th.
We don't know what other expenses will come up during his recovery. We do know that his mother has a deductible to meet and that Linkin will need a new car eventually. Should you feel compelled to give, any funds collected will go straight to Linkin in a separate account to keep better track of anything related to his recovery and only he has access to it.
I hope that after reading his story you hug your loved ones a little tighter and more often. That the things we see on the news are closer to home than we realize and how connected we truly are. I hope you join us in rejoicing Linkin's survival because that's all that matters.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks to the young man who stopped. Thanks to the medical staff at Regional One.
Big thanks to our Lord and Savior!
Because of him, we are planning Linkin's future, not his funeral!
