Support Lisa and Keith

Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer just over a year ago, at the age of 37. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. We thought that she was in the clear and in recovery. Last week she received devastating news. The cancer is back and has metastasized. It has spread to her lymph nodes and is growing very quickly. The best treatment and the one recommended by her oncologist is a medication called Palbociclib. This medication is not covered by Lisa's health insurance and costs $6000 per month. There are grants available but they take time to access, sometimes months. Lisa simply does not have that time to wait. Many friends and family members have asked how they can help.  The best way to improve Lisa's quality of life and to give her as much time here with us as possible is to get her access to this medication immediately. We are asking anyone who wants to help to contribute to this fund in order to bridge the cost of the medication until the grant becomes available. Any excess funds will help Keith and Lisa with costs associated with loss of income, visits to hospital, and to access any additional help they may need. Lisa and Keith are wonderful friends, family, and community members. They are supportive and kind and have been there for us many times over. If you are in a position to help, please do. Every little bit will help. If you are not in a position to help financially then please consider writing to your local MPP to ask that they do something to help others in critical situations like this access the medications they need in a timely fashion. Keith and Lisa need to focus on healing and getting the cancer under control.
