Support Lisa Hilliard in the fight of her life!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jaime and I'm fundraising for my little sister Lisa Hilliard. In early March of this year, Lisa went into the hospital with extreme fatigue and excruciating pain. She actually blacked out in her front yard while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Once the doctors were able to run some tests in the hospital, they knew it was an aggressive cancer, most likely a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Her platelets were in the single digits and her pain was unmanageable. They decided to transfer her to MUSC for better care and to diagnose exactly which kind of cancer she was dealing with. Nearly a week after first being admitted and then transferred and a flurry of tests, Lisa was diagnosed with an aggressive, fast-growing blood cancer - Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with MYC gene rearrangement. Before she had a chance to process what she was dealing with and what it was doing to her body, Lisa's doctors wanted to start an aggressive chemo and immunotherapy treatment right away, and by the next day, she was on a 24-hour infusion that lasted 5 days. Lisa has to repeat this cycle every 21 days for a total of 6 treatments where she checks into the hospital for 6 days, gets the chemo and immunotherapy drips and lumbar punctures, and then recovers at home for 2 weeks before returning for the next round.

Lisa just completed round 2 of 6 of the treatment plan and it is working! Her bone marrow is starting to do its job and her platelet counts are finally rising where she doesn't need infusions multiple times a week. The pain she was experiencing from the cancer being in her spleen and her bone marrow has significantly subsided. She has a long journey ahead of her but she is ready to fight. With the right resources and response to treatment, DLBCL is not only treatable but curable!

Any help you can provide, whether it be through this Go Fund Me page to help offset the cost of medical and travel expenses to the hospital (either by donating or sharing the link), reaching out to Lisa to send her your love and support, praying for her, sharing a few kind words or comments here, or contributing to the local fundraisers in Myrtle Beach is very much appreciated! Lisa was overwhelmed when she heard that friends and loved ones were asking if something like this would be set up to support her as she fought this cancer and was unable to work during this journey. I am grateful to everyone who is here to let Lisa know that no one has to fight alone!
