Hi my name is Lisa Howard and I wanna tell you a story about my husband and his journey from almost dying a year and half ago to receiving an lvad and now recently, got a 2nd chance at life, with a gift of life with a heart transplant, March of this year he received a heart transplant.

During a majority of this time, we were down to one income, and he did his best to work when he was allowed too, receiving his income when he could. We had a lot of follow up appointments as well, some took all day, others just chipped away with gas, money, etc. We did receive disability, but if anyone had ever received this sort of benefit, it doesn’t pay all the bills. Within the year of the lvad (heart pump?). The call we were all waiting for has come. On Saturday, March 10th his gift of life, the heart transplant. Was a success! The lvad was removed, the original pacemaker gone! However, within the time at the hospital, it was determined that he needed another pacemaker. Which again was a success!

There were complications along the way, two bouts of rejection, two bouts of low white blood cells. The amount of hospital stays, out weighs the time he was able to actually enjoy this summer. Last year, he missed winter and almost spring completely due to many issues and problems encountered along the way. Between all the drives to temple with appointments, back and forth to Lehigh valley, gas, time and convenience eating, regular monthly bills got backed up, to the point of bill collectors calling frequently.

While we sincerely hate to post anything like this, a close friend had suggested this option, as he stated, “there are a lot of good people out there.” We believe that. Of course that is the short version of the journey, but anything other ?’s, we can certainly discuss. We are open to any forum. Thank you for reading our story. ❤️
