Support Literacy with the Black Child Book Fair!

Donation protected

The Black Child Book Fair has promoted literacy in underprivileged neighborhoods across the country since 2019, and we are seeking $3,000 to purchase books to give to underprivileged students in Chicago at our Sixth Annual Event scheduled for January 31, 2025 at the James Jordan Boys and Girls Club.

As you may know, African-American students in the USA test below the national average in reading. Students who do not read well have a lower chance of graduating, which leads to a lower chance of employment and a greater chance of issues with the criminal justice system.

Our event will feature independent authors with stories and characters geared to empower youth and inspire them to read. We ask that you support our endeavor and give generously to encourage a young person to be engaged with reading and success.
