Support Little Chef's Vet Bills and Needs

Hello! My name is Max and I am raising money to help care for a pregnant cat. My fiancee Elizabeth and I found her as a stray and reached out to the animal shelter of the county we found her in for help. The shelter and staff were wonderful, but are currently operating with such high numbers of animals that she was going to be sent to a partner humane society several hours away in Chicago. This meant we wouldn't have been able to continue to foster her locally, and would almost certainly lose our chance to adopt her after her kittens were born. After a few long conversations (and many tears from me), we decided that cancelling her intake and keeping her was our only option. We couldn't stand the thought of her going so far away so soon.

We truly didn't plan to get so wrapped up in this-- we were originally going to relinquish her the next day after we found her, which changed to being her foster, and then we just fell in love. She has become incredibly affectionate and trustful after only a few days in our home. She gobbles up Churus, flops on her back to biscuit my arm while I rub her big belly, and meows the sweetest little meows whenever we go in to see her. We have affectionately named her Little Chef, as she is small, grey, and is working hard to prepare some babies!

Chef is staying in a large dog crate in our spare room, and we are currently using up supplies gifted to us through the shelter. I have a vet appointment in two days to discuss our options and what would be medically best for her small body, as this is probably her first litter and we are not sure if she is even much past a year old. Litters can be really hard on young first time mamas, and we want to put her health first. If she does have the kittens sooner, we would soon need additional food, litter, a larger pen, and possibly nursing supplies and kitten formula. Eventually, any kittens will need spayed/neutered as well.

We also realized we could only successfully care for Chef if we put together a fundraiser. Any donations will go directly to her veterinary bills and other needs.
