SUPPORT LIVER TUMOR SURGERY FOR MY DOG
Donation protected
TLDR:
- Merry my 9 year old dog means the absolute world to me and is currently a very happy dog- with a huge liver tumor that miraculously has yet to impact his quality of life.
- If it’s removed asap, he will likely be cured and live happily for several more years without the need for chemotherapy etc.
- Surgery is approved through WSU will cost about $14,000.
- Both my family and I are not in a financial place to meet the cost of the surgery by the surgery date.
- Any help is massively appreciated. You’re welcome to ask me for original art in exchange for a donation. My art instagram is @gardenofbirds where I have a Commissions Q&A.
Me & Merry, the bad news:
I'm Miriam and for the unintroduced, the fluffy fellow you see in the picture above is my dog Merry, my constant companion for over 9 years now. He's been in fantastic health and has had nothing worse than an ear infection his entire life, until a few weeks ago when due to an emergency visit to the vet we found out he has a mass in his liver. I was informed that without surgery he either had days to weeks at worst, or weeks to months at best.
An Opportunity:
With surgery he could easily live up to his doodle natural lifespan of 12-16 years. Plus, depending on what they find there is a high chance surgery will be curative, with no chemotherapy or radiation follow up required. It is most likely a tumor and if he doesn't get surgery, it will likely metastasize and cause him massive suffering and loss of quality of life before killing him over the next several months.
So I am very desperate to get this done before I lose this window of opportunity for him. As a result, with the help of his local vets, I have managed to get him an appointment at WSU's Veterinary School in Pullman, WA for a CT Scan that we successfully fundraised for and cost $1,500.
Unfortunately in this scan not only was his liver tumor discovered to be 2 tumors, but a 3rd unrelated and unmetastisized cancer tumor was discovered on one of his adrenal glands.
Thankfully though the surgeon is confident that they can all be removed and that he won't need any chemo or radiation follow up treatment and can live many more years after surgery. The quote for surgical removal of all 3 tumors is at a maximum of ~$14,000.
The Challenge:
This is still unfortunately beyond unaffordable for my family and I at this time. Now for why I'm not just slamming down my credit card myself and asking for help…Unfortunately I had my own financial and massive health struggle over the last year after barely financially recovering from being Pandemic unemployed. I am currently working part time while searching for my next career opportunity, but what I make right now is barely enough to keep my own lights on. It's extremely depressing to have this emergency happen to Merry right at the time when I am breaking at the seams financially, and at the time when for the first time in years I'm not even working from home anymore and can't even spend his possible last days with him. While I believe in my ability to get a job that can cover this kind of emergency sometime within the next few months, it's certainly not going to be in time for his surgery.
My Gratitude:
We can't pick a "perfect death" for ourselves or any of our beloved pets, but at least I am very confident that this surgery could save him from a very difficult and painful one.
I am also an artist. You’re welcome to ask me for original art in exchange for a donation. My art instagram is @gardenofbirds where I have a Commissions Q&A.
Thank you SO SO SO much for any support. It truly means the world to me.
