Support Local 6 Workers in Their Strike for Fair Wages
Donation protected
Local 6 has represented workers at Georgia-Pacific’s production plant and warehouse in Antioch, California, for decades. Our eighty five members, work hard every day to produce gypsum, sheet rock, and other industrial materials for Georgia-Pacific.
Local 6 has been in contract negotiations with Georgia-Pacific since our collective bargaining agreement expired in July 2024. Unfortunately, the company dragged its feet in negotiating a fair contract that properly compensates our members for the difficult and essential work they do. We are engaged in a federal mediation process with the company to try to reach a deal, but the company repeatedly delayed our mediation sessions and refuses to budge on its economic proposals and negotiate in good faith.
Georgia-Pacific — a subsidiary of giant multinational Koch Industries, one of the largest privately-held companies in the world — reported annual revenues of over $17 billion in 2023. There is no question that the company has the financial resources to pay its workers fair, competitive wages for the hard work they do. Despite its massive profits, Georgia-Pacific has proposed only small annual wage increases that barely keep up with the already expensive and rising cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The ILWU members who work for Georgia-Pacific need fair wages and working conditions so have no choice but to go on strike to get a fair contract. We are calling on you as a friend of labor and someone who believes in fairness to show support for our members by helping them with a donation during this struggle. Your support is crucial and we look forward to see you on the picket line.
