Dear family, friends and kind strangers,
On March 17th Kevin and Stacy Reese were awoken to the jarring sight of their beautiful 3 year old son Logan experiencing paralysis throughout his body. They quickly sought medical treatment where he was airlifted to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Logan was treated for fluid on the brain and spinal cord and placed in a medically induced coma to protect his brain and body from any further damage. After excruciating hours of waiting, MRI and further testing concluded that Logan experienced a rare complication from Influenza, known as "Transverse Myelitis". This post flu disorder has left their beautiful boy with devastating and severe complications including paralysis from the neck down, needing both a tracheotomy and feeding tube to sustain. It is the hope that after recovery from his recent tracheotomy he can begin the grueling process of physical therapy. Logan’s recovery process is long and arduous as he is expected to remain in the hospital for at least one year, receiving around the clock care, with the prayer that he may yet recover.
I wish I could say that Kevin and Stacy are unfamiliar with such devastating news. However Logan’s mother, Stacy has and continues to battle with Thyroid Cancer. Surgical complications have resulted in Bilateral Vocal Paralysis, which greatly has impacted her ability to talk, eat and breathe.
Kevin, Stacy and Logan’s twin brother RJ have been left incredibly heartbroken and in immeasurable grief over this tragedy. This is all too much for one family to be left dealing with. They need the love, prayers, and support from everyone. Treatment expenses for Logan’s care are expected to be extraordinary. No parents should have to worry about money on top of the health of their son. To help support Logan's recovery we are asking for donations to aid Kevin and Stacy through this very difficult time. If you are unable to donate at this time, we ask that you share this with as many people as you can. Thank you for taking the time to connect with Logan’s story. Your prayers, support and generosity are beyond meaningful during this shattering ordeal.
God bless.
