Help Support Lon's Recovery ♥️

My name is Kenzie & I’m organizing this fundraiser alongside my siblings Kaeli & Shon, for our Dad’s medical costs after his accident.

On Sunday April 14th, our parents Lon & Liz were enjoying a beautiful sunny day doing yard work at their house. They were “dividing & conquering” while she mowed the lawn & he took some yard clippings in his truck to the dump on Camano Island, WA. Some time passed & our Mom realized he was taking longer than usual, & after seeing a medical helicopter head towards the dump, she knew something was wrong. When she got there, she was told somebody found him after taking about a 12 foot fall, & he had to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was intubated on the scene & they were able to stabilize him at the hospital, but the extent of his injuries was concerning & the list is long, including multiple body fractures, a skull fracture, brain bleeds, & a spinal injury.

He’s had 2 surgeries on his spine, along with multiple x-rays & CT scans. He spent 3 days in the trauma ICU before they took out his breathing tube & were able to move him to acute care. This is where he’s at now, still a bit confused, but resting & recovering as he learns his new norms.

Before the accident, Lon loved to travel & work on his property. He was learning to golf & was in multiple bowling leagues. He enjoyed going on beautiful hikes in the PNW, & taking annual camping trips with friends & family. Lon is a dedicated engineer at Boeing, & always the first to volunteer to help anyone who needs it. He’s the kindest, most generous goofball we all know & love.

This whole situation is so scary for our family & for him as well, I’m sure. Our Dad was the main provider & our Mom is self-employed & hasn’t been working much since she’s been taking care of so many things involving the accident. That in addition to the long commutes from Camano/Marysville to Harborview has had a financial impact. Our Mom has a hard time accepting the help she needs but is learning to stay humble given the situation.

The recovery process will be long & difficult. This incident is something that could possibly affect him for the rest of his life, both physically & mentally. I think that’s enough to have to handle, but on top of that there’s the financial aspect.

All funds raised will go directly towards Lon’s medical bills, rehabilitation, & loss of income during the whole process. Please consider donating and sharing our family’s story.
