Hello everyone, my name is Meghan Pohl. Please help my sister-in-law, Lori Pohl, fight her battle with pancreatic cancer.
On August 9th, 2024, Lori went to Palm Bay Hospital for pain and swelling of her stomach. She had a CT scan done, and the hospital found a hernia and she was released to go home.
On October 2, 2024, Lori had a follow-up appointment with her PCP over the phone, and her doctor urged her to go to the hospital due to the pain and swelling of her stomach. She returned to Palm Bay Hospital where a CT scan was performed and found she had pancreatitis, and she was admitted. She was in the hospital for 10 days. While there, they did an MRI, ultrasound, and a HIDA scan. Following the results from all of the tests, she went to Advent Health Hospital in Orlando and had a biopsy performed on the mass they had found on the pancreas on October 3. Following the procedure, she returned to Palm Bay Hospital where she was later discharged on October 10.
On October 15, a surgeon who had performed the biopsy from Advent Health Hospital called her to inform her that the biopsy had come back as cancer and they wanted to perform a PET scan on October 25th.
On October 28, Lori went to meet with the surgeon at Advent Health in Orlando, and that is when she received the devastating news that the cancer was not only in her pancreas but had spread to the liver, and the PET scan showed some concerning nodules in her lungs. She is not a candidate for surgery, so she will have to start chemotherapy and possibly radiation.
On Nov 5, she will have a port put in to be able to begin her chemotherapy.
As you can imagine, everything happened so quickly and she could really use all the help she can get. Her medical bills are mounting, and she will not be able to work due to her treatments. Her last day of work is this Sunday, Nov 3. Please help and keep Lori, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and the rest of the family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this battle.
The battle with cancer is scary enough, let’s help ease the financial stress ❤️

12/28 heaven gained another beautiful angel tonight. Lori fought an incredible fight. She was surrounded by family and showered in love. May she rest in the sweetest peace.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their prayers and donations thus far. The support has helped tremendously. If anyone would like to help and donate to her cremation expenses, it would help ease the burden during this difficult time.
