Support Lori’s Battle

Lori’s Story: While at work on Saint Patrick’s Day 2022, Lori became ill and started experiencing chest pain. After many months of tests and scans, in August 2022, Lori was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas. She underwent a whipple procedure to remove this tumor and was told this type of tumor wouldn’t return. Fast forward to fall of 2023, where the tumor did in fact return. After a fight with insurance, Lori finally had an ablation to once again try to destroy this tumor. On her second follow up scan, “15 new lesions” were found scattered on her liver. Lori has undergone two attempted biopsies, but due to the location, these were not conclusive. She recently had a scan that puzzled her oncologist. Due to the rare and persistent nature of this case, her doctor is referring her to KU Med Center for further testing and treatment.

Lori is the most kind, caring, tough person I know. You’ll never hear her complain about this situation she’s in, nor will you hear her ask for help. With cases like this, it doesn’t take long for the bills to stack up—time off work, travel, all the tests and scans. Lori spends every moment helping others, and it’s our turn to help Lori (whether her stubborn self likes it or not!) Please consider donating to Lori and her family during this stressful time.
