Give Lottie a chance at life - ectopic ureter puppy

Our gorgeous little girl, Lottie was diagnosed with a devastating and rare medical condition.
Lottie was born in June 2024 to our gorgeous girl Lucy. We had 7 amazing puppies in which 6 of them are entirely healthy. Unfortunately one of the puppies, Lottie has been diagnosed with a rare condition called ectopic ureter.
Ectopic ureter is a rare medical condition caused by abnormal development in the womb and it fails to develop in their normal location before the puppy is born.
Symptoms include, recurring urinary tract infections with pain or burning when you pee along with urinary incontinence (leaking pee) as puppies unable to control their urine and leak urine constantly. Other signs include frequent licking of the genital area and discoloured hair around the genitals.
When we realised that something didn’t seem right with little Lottie we took her to the local vet and after getting lots of medical tests done we received a devastating news of her dying at week 6. Then she was referred to a specialist vet who’s done more thorough tests and advised us to wait a few more weeks until we redo all the tests as Lottie was then still too young to decide about her well being. Then just a couple of weeks ago she underwent all the tests again which confirmed that she has an ectopic ureter. Ectopic ureters are rare in Golden Retrievers, affecting less than 2% of puppies and our little Lottie is in this. The only way she could have a normal and painfree life is a treatment to relocate her ureter from its abnormal location to a more normal location via open abdominal surgery. If left untreated, they can lead to dysfunction of the lower urinary tract, kidney or bladder stones, inflammation of the prostate gland, infertility, blood poisoning, and even kidney infection and kidney failure.
At the moment little Lottie is suffering of being constantly wet. She is constantly leaking urine which ends up in puddles within seconds and in pain and just cannot have a normal life. Her bedding has to be changed quite frequently as it gets soaking wet. She is not free of just jumping on the sofa or be in our bed as she leaks so badly. She lives in our kitchen as that is the only place where we don’t have carpet or rug. We constantly have to mop the stones as they get covered by urine immediately. This also means that our son is restricted of freely walking in our home especially in the kitchen. Besides, we constantly inhale urine as well which is very unhealthy and can cause severe problems for our son and my husband along with myself.
Lottie is an adorable and sweet puppy who is already so smart and loveable. We love her so much and just want her to have the best possible life.
Unfortunately our insurance is claiming it is a preexisting condition and will not provide coverage for her operation or any related doctor’s visits. It’s just a very unfortunate situation as she was first treated for her urine leaking as a potential UTI at week 6 and she was not eligible for insurance until she turned 8 weeks old. So she didn’t get insurance as she was too young but then it was too late for her to get a cover. The cost of medical treatments is already getting into thousands of thousands of pounds and the surgery itself will cost many more thousands. Unfortunately we don’t have this huge amount of fund and we can’t keep up with her medical bills anymore hence we are urgently asking for your help. It breaks my heart of not being able to help her straight away. Therefore we decided to turn to go fund me and we are kindly asking everybody to please help improving our little Lottie’s quality of life by donating.
The funds will be used to pay Lottie’s upcoming surgery’s cost, post surgery scan along with all the recovery medications and specialist vet consultations. If you're in a position to donate, it really would mean a lot to us as she deserves the best life possible.
