Support Luay’s Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Luay Azmi Youssef Abdel-Jawwad, is a 28 year old from Palestine and he has been suffering from kidney failure since 2018.
He entered the Ramallah Government Hospital at the time he was diagnosed and was hospitalized for several days, where he started continuous dialysis sessions until now 3 days per week . Each session is 4 hours long ...
His family started the process for a kidney transplant and decided to travel to Jordan to perform the operation out of pocket.
The Kidney transplant was supposed to be two or three days later, after entering the Gardens Hospital in Amman on 02/10/2019. After performing the necessary tests it was found that the father of Luay (Azmi Yusef Abdel-Jawwad) entered the stage of diabetes and unfortunately, would not be a candidate as a donor. After the diagnosis process, it was found that Luay needed to remove the left kidney, because it was the main cause of his kidney failure, and its cost was ($ 10,000).
As for the mother of Luay (Neama Yusef Abdel-Jawad), after performing the necessary tests to donate, it was found that there was a large lump on the left kidney, she needed to remove. Also, to do the necessary examination for her after removing the lump and be a suitable donor, which had cost $ 5000. In addition to dialysis sessions for Luay (3 sessions) per week at a cost of (150) dollars per session. Over the course of 3 months, sessions cost $ 5,000.
The kidney transplant took place on 05/02/2019 where the mother donated her kidney to her son Luay, but it was a failure. The cost of the operation was ($20,000) dollars. The transplanted kidney was removed four days after the transplant process at a cost of ($ 6,000)
After all these events, the family went through so much stress because of financial difficulties. There no longer was a donor for Luay but his only brother (Mahmoud Azmi Abdel-Jawad) started the process of testing and unfortunately, he was not a match to help save his brother.
The family thought again to save Luay from his difficult situation and decided to travel to Egypt on 10/31/2019, to a special kidney center for kidney transplantation. However, things didn't go as planned due to the financial difficulties, which led us to return to Palestine on 11/12/2019. At this time, Luay had reached 220 dialysis sessions.
Now there is no longer a donor for Luay, and he's still a young man that has been married for about two years.
He is still waiting with hope and patience for his treatment and return to the normal life he had, and to stop this unbearable situation. His life has been linked to dialysis sessions, and is no longer able to work because of his health condition.
The cost of the transplant in Turkey is $70,000 and the amount they currently need is $ 40,000 , as it is the only option for Luay to get the treatment he needs and live a normal life.
