Support Luca Picucci and His Road to Recovery
Donation protected
As many of you have heard, Luca Picucci had an accident while on his high school senior trip with his best friends and their families to Cancun, Mexico. The injury he sustained required significant emergency surgery to repair his L1 vertebrae. Following the surgery, Luca was transported (by medevac) back to Austin where he is now recovering at Dell Seton Hospital. On Monday, June 10, Luca had another surgery to correct, repair, and replace the hardware that was used in the surgery in Mexico.
Thankfully, Luca sustained no neurological damage but he does have a very long road of recovery ahead. After the surgery on June 10, we learned that he will stay in the hospital for a week. We expect 6 weeks inpatient rehab followed by months of outpatient rehab. The next 6 weeks are critical for Luca’s recovery.
Given that the accident occurred in Mexico, nothing was covered by the Picucci's medical insurance. The cost of the surgery, hospital stay, and medevac are already almost insurmountable. In addition to accounting for the expenses associated with inpatient rehabilitation and the ongoing commitment to outpatient therapy, it is extremely important that Luca has access to the most advanced rehabilitation facility in order to optimize his chances for a complete recovery.
This trip was to be a trip of a lifetime for these boys. Please consider donating to help Ali and Eddie with this soaring medical debt. Any amount you can contribute is appreciated and if you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your family, friends, and social networks.
Luca and the entire Picucci family are so beloved. Please keep them all close to your hearts and in your prayers.
