Support Lucas Cruz Impacted by San Diego Floods!

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Diamond Brandon and I am coordinating this campaign on behalf of my friend and colleague at the California Labor Federation, Lucas Cruz. On Monday, January 22nd, what we initially thought was going to be a minimal rainy day in San Diego turned into an unforeseen disaster for many families. Lucas and his family endured losing everything they owned.

Without any forewarning to evacuate or safeguard their homes from the storm, within an hour, they witnessed the water level rise over 4 feet, submerging cars on the street. Despite their efforts to protect their home and seek help, they found themselves wading through contaminated water to assist neighbors and were eventually evacuated with the help of a friend hours later.

Lucas is one of the best people I know, he is very giving, very humble and hates attention. I had to push him on this go fund me because he isn't a person who wants to burden anyone. He is an amazing father, husband, and lives to serve people in his community and more often than not out of his own pocket. He has been a tremendous friend to me in some of my hardest moments in life and I can't sit back and not do everything I can to help him and his family while they fight to be strong and recover.

After returning to their homes, they saw the water line extended over 6ft. Contaminated mud and debris from the street covered the floors, furniture, and appliances. All their clothes, shoes, and personal items had to be thrown out. They had to open up the walls and floors and have been working every day since then to clear out as much as they can as mold and mildew sets in.

There is nothing they could have done to prepare for this and so I am asking for your help. If you are reading this, please give what you can, there isn't an amount too small and every donation will be met with immense gratitude. Donations will be used for immediate repairs to their home, rehousing the family, and replacing necessary personal items. Please help us get the word out and share.
