Support Lucas' Dream of a Therapy Pool

Donation protected
My name is Karen Swensen. I am a journalist who recently organized a GoFundMe for a 90-year-old veteran who was pushing carts in the heat so that he could afford to eat. 5000 strangers donated enough for him to be able to retire the NEXT DAY. And though I never intended to raise money for anyone else, so many people wrote in sharing stories of hope and wanting to help others.

That's how I met Lucas Testerman, a little boy who was born with a rare genetic disorder. He has no eyes, a G-tube for nutrition, a hard time walking, difficulty learning and communicating, but a LOVE for swimming. He thrives in the water! Not only does it provide critical physical therapy, but it's where he finds his joy! He used to swim every day at his condo complex, but recently his family moved into a house of their own (thanks to the kind sellers who they say were familiar with their plight and sold it to them for far under market price), but the house has no pool and they can't afford one. They'd have to assume even more debt.

Lucas' mom is a school psychologist; his dad works in an auto body shop. Together they're able to pay the medical bills but a small therapy pool costs around $30,000. They've raised $10k in a separate fundraiser.

How you can help:
No donation is too small. Sharing is just as valuable - if you can share the fundraiser link with your friends and loved ones, we can spread the word about Lucas' story. I went to NY to personally meet Lucas and his family and learn more about their circumstances. Every single penny will go to them.

Lucas's mom says doctors predicted he would not live to see his first birthday. He's celebrated eleven so far. Let's give the family even something more to celebrate!
