Support Lucas's Shark Attack Recovery

The ocean is his life, his passion and his career. Born and raised on Prince Edward Island in Canada, Lucas Arsenault has been surrounded by the ocean since he was born. Multiple National and International titles in Kitesurfing, a passionate waterman, his life took an unexpected turn on May 23rd 2024.

While snorkeling with his friends and family in Turks and Caicos, Lucas was attacked by a large shark. The unprovoked attack left him in the water with major damage to his right leg, and severe damage to his hand from fighting for his life. He managed to swim away and his family and friends took the boat to him. Their quick actions and Lucas’s naturally calm demeaner are the reason we are so lucky to still have Lucas with us this day.

Once back on land he was rushed to Cheshire Hall Medical center where he received emergency surgery for his injuries and as a result of the attack his right leg had to be amputated above the knee. As soon as he was stabilized he was put on a flight back to Canada and to Toronto Hospital where he is currently receiving further treatment.

Anyone who knows Lucas knows what an amazing person he is. He would never ask for assistance in anything, would go out of his way to help anyone and his positive go to attitude and infectious smile has helped many people through their own hard times and struggles. It’s our turn now to help him.

There is no hiding it, the road ahead won't be easy. Lucas will require extensive rehabilitation, therapy, many more medical procedures and countless unforeseen expenses. He will need a lot of assistance and adjustments to assist with his daily life, and multiple prosthetic legs to get him back to his active athletic lifestyle.

Lucas is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from his close friends and family. Their love and encouragement mean the world to him and are one of the driving forces behind his optimism.
