Support Lucy's Cancer Treatment Journey

For those who don’t know us, we adopt special needs spaniels, most of whom are seniors. We specialize in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and English Toy Spaniels who have Mitral Valve Disease/Congestive Heart Failure and Syringomyelia (a spinal condition.

In 2022 when our dog Darcy was diagnosed with a spleen tumor we decided to add a younger, healthier Cavalier to our mix. Lucy was four and did have special needs, none of which are physical. She has PTSD and had night terrors from her not so great life before us.

In a cruel twist of fate, the healthy dog we got in hopes of having her a long time, was diagnosed with Lymphoma on Saturday after becoming ill with an infection.

Lucy does have insurance and it does cover cancer. So we will get some reimbursement. However, if you have insurance on your dog you know it can take some time. We have found on average with our other claims for our other dogs that it takes about 6-8 weeks for that too happen.

Lucy sees the oncologist next Wednesday (8-14-24) where she will need an ultrasound and fine needle aspiration. And her treatment will start right away depending on what they find and what protocol we go with. We have asked for estimates and haven’t gotten any yet but through research and people whose dogs went through similar cancer gave me a ballpark figure.

Our dog Tulip lost her eye last year and almost lost it this year and we have depleted every savings on that as well as ran up all our cards. Normally I make it up with my job but this year thanks to AI sites stealing recipes and then creating AI images of the recipe and Google updates that crushed bloggers, there is no making it up. I’m currently making about 1/3 of what I normally do.

So we are asking for help to get Lucy started. She’s young with no other health issues. Had such a crap start to life that she deserves to get to live this life a little more.
