Support Luke Woods in his Health Battle

The story,

Our friend Luke Woods has recently fallen ill to a rare auto immune disease called Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) His health has not been great for the last 6 months. Doctors were puzzled by Luke's symptoms and was not sure what to put it down to. As time went on he got worse which led to him losing his eye sight in March. With this he went to A&E and was put on a strong course of steroids. The following weeks he slowly gained back vision although things were still blurry. Three weeks later on from this, he woke up one morning without any function of his right leg. This led him back to A&E on Wednesday 10th April and more steroids. Once at West Suffolk Hospital the doctors were still puzzled by what was happening and relied on specialists from Addenbrookes for advice. Whilst here he made improvements on his vision, however, from the waist down he became paralyzed. Then on Monday the 15th the specialist from Addenbrookes came over and authorized him being transferred to Cambridge for better treatment. Whilst here he has been plugged into a machine for two hours a day cycling his blood cells to clear out bad plasma and replace with good antibodies. His mental health as you can imagine is unstable whilst trying to remain upbeat. To top this all off his work have laid him off. Luke has two little ones at home aswel as a partner to provide for. The mental health nurses have been round and said that Luke's positivity is key to whether he may walk again or not.

His health is the most important thing at this point but he now has the constant worry of his family having a roof over their head and providing food. The future of Luke's health is unclear and going to be a long process. All his friends and family are doing their best to support him to keep him positive.

This has prompted us to set us this page to help lower Luke's worries so he can focus on the main priority being his health. Anything anyone can donate is extremely grateful, however we understand the cost of living and peoples own priorities. If you could please share this with friends it would be greatly appreciated.
