Support Luke on His Journey to Healing from Retinoblastoma
#EyesOnLuke

I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but here we are, rallying together for one of the strongest little fighters I’ve ever known: our 4-month-old nephew, Luke.

On April 2nd, Luke was diagnosed with bilateral Retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of eye cancer that affects young children. It was a moment that shook our entire family. What began as a strange white reflection in his eye noticed by his parents, quickly became a whirlwind of appointments, tests, and an unthinkable diagnosis.

Andrew and Jenna, Luke’s parents, did what they always do— they sprang into action with strength, love, and unwavering resolve. If you know them, you know they would give you the shirt off their back without thinking twice. They are the first to show up, the ones who give selflessly, and the people you can always count on. Now, they need our help.

After initial consultations in Michigan left them with more questions than answers, they felt they needed to continue to seek out the best care possible. That led them to Dr. Abramson and the world-renowned team at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, where Luke will be receiving specialized treatment not available in their home state. MSK treats 75% of retinoblastoma cases in the U.S. and has a 99% cure rate. They felt blessed to have found this team, but knew this would add many challenges to Luke’s journey due to the distance, insurance, etc. They are in the right hands, but the journey ahead will not be easy.

Traveling back and forth to New York means missed work, mounting travel costs, and significant out-of-pocket medical expenses. And all of this comes while caring for a 4-month-old baby and facing every parent’s worst fear.

Luke is the happiest, most beautiful little boy with a smile that lights up a room. He does not deserve what he’s going through, but he is fighting with all his might. And we want his parents to be able to focus entirely on loving him through this — not worrying about the overwhelming costs associated with this type of medical diagnosis.

We are asking for your support, in any amount, to help relieve the financial burden so that Andrew and Jenna can stay focused on Luke’s healing. Your donations will go toward:
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Travel costs to and from NYC
• Lodging and meals while they are away from home
• Support for day-to-day needs while they miss work to care for Luke

At this time, because they’ll be in New York so often, a traditional meal train isn’t feasible. Instead, DoorDash and Uber e-gift cards would be deeply appreciated to help with meals and transportation while they’re away. If travel slows down in the future, we will revisit setting up a meal train.

We’ve already been blown away by the kindness and support they’ve received — from words of encouragement, lifting them up in prayer, to offers to help in any way. Please consider continuing that support through a donation, a gift card, or even just by sharing this link for awareness to potentially help another family.

Luke is not fighting alone, and neither are Andrew and Jenna. Thank you for helping us lift them up in this unimaginable time. Let’s help them stay strong, focused, and surrounded by love.
