Support Lydia on Her Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Ify and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Lydia, a sweet beautiful young lady. I have been her nurse since 2018 until the present. She was born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 3oz. She spent over six months in NICU and was diagnosed with the following conditions. - Asthma, Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, Chronic lung disease, CP (cerebral palsy), spastic, diplegic, Developmental delay, Esotropia, Inguinal hernia, right, Intellectual functional disability, Hemorrhoids, Incontinence, Constipation. After her discharge from hospital, she had many doctors’ appointments and hospitalizations. With success, but many challenges along the way. Sixteen years later, she is still going through 20 medical challenges. On 24 different medications, and 13 different doctors and specialists. She is continuing to be battling Fecal Impaction, Constipation, Neurogenic Bladder and Decreased Urine Output & etc.
In May of 2022 she was diagnosed with CP (Cerebral Palsy) and July 2023 she was diagnosed with IRF2BPL – known as Neurodevelopmental and movement disorder spectrum. She has Developmental Regression, Dysmorphic Features, Loss of Language, gross motor skills, and her condition has worsened since she got older. She needs more medical care and requires to be medically homebound for virtual school. There is no cure for this very rare disorder. Treatment requires medications, behavior therapy, speech therapy, psychological counseling, physical therapy and occupational therapy & etc.
On January 22, she will be in the hospital for a few days for a procedure with Gastroenterology (GI) team and after that we will see what the outcome will be.
The Gastroenterology (GI) team at Texas Children's Hospital will decided to perform surgery on her to see if that will help her to have bowel movement on her own. This surgery has complications and if unsuccessful she might end up with colostomy bag for collection of her stool which then adds to her distressed life. She has spent days and weeks in the hospital due to not being able to Urinate or have a bowel movement. She has had countless Emergency room visits.
I’m asking you for your financial support to help this family. The family needs to move to accommodate her medical needs, safety risk, accumulated out of pocket expense and back and forth medical expenses. She is on a dietary restriction plan, and it is very expensive. Future expenses to meet her other medical care, transportation and Assistant with Care.
The mother is holding her head up, as a widow it has taken a toll on her and her health. She is allowing me to share some of her health challenges: She has had two strokes. She is on monthly shot for severe Migraine, visions problems, neuropathy in her legs & etc. She is on over 10 medications.
I will keep you all updated on her journey.
Anything helps and greatly appreciate your love and support.
