Support Lydia's Battle Against Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Donation protected
On September 5, 2024, our daughter Lydia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) after a series of tests revealed alarmingly high white blood cell counts. This devastating news came after she initially tested positive for both Covid and strep, leading us to further testing at Geisinger Wyoming Valley West and then at Janet Weis Children’s hospital.
Lydia’s journey began with a three-part procedure and her first dose of chemotherapy on September 6, 2024. She will undergo four chemotherapy sessions, each lasting 29 days, with frequent bone marrow biopsies and additional procedures under anesthesia. This rigorous treatment schedule means she will need to stay at the hospital for approximately five months, with a possibility of extended treatment or a bone marrow transplant if necessary. This journey will span approximately two to three years with specialized care. Lydia will need ongoing health checks for the rest of her life to ensure she remains in remission.
We are reaching out to our community for support to help cover expenses and ensure both parents can be present throughout Lydia’s treatment. Your donations will make a significant difference during this challenging time. If you’re unable to contribute financially, Lydia would greatly appreciate receiving cards and messages of encouragement.
We are incredibly grateful for the dedicated care Lydia is receiving from the Janet Weis Hospital and its staff. Lydia remains positive and resilient, and your support will help us tremendously as we navigate this journey. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
