Support Lyle in Safeguarding Art Treasures

Dear Friends and Art Enthusiasts,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out today with an urgent and heartfelt plea for help in saving an extraordinary art collection that is at risk of being lost forever. Please help save the art!

The fine arts and cultural enlightenment are a major part of the lens through which Lyle Henderson views the world. Lyle, a passionate and dedicated art collector and connoisseur, has spent decades curating a remarkable collection of works from emerging, mid-career and established African American and diaspora artists. His collection is not only a testament to his deep appreciation for art but represents a cultural treasure that deserves to be preserved for future generations.

Tragically, I was recently diagnosed and learned I am out of remission (cancer) again, which has significantly impacted my ability to manage and maintain an invaluable art collection, which is presently in storage. While I have been enduring the health challenge my entire life, unfortunately being out of remission has come to be commonplace. The good news is that I have a long history and support from an acclaimed medical team. While the short-term prognosis might appear stark, the long-term forecasts, like times before, will enable me to go back into remission (without cancer), and resume a full life.

What makes this challenge different are the costs associated with contemporary medical treatments. In addition to being out of work due to recent effects from the global pandemic and industry realignments, prioritizing finances and retaining this specific investment – a valued art collection – is vital. The untimely medical costs and associated expenses have created an urgent need for support to ensure that these works of art are not auctioned off as part of an unpaid storage fee and lien sale.

I am humbly asking for help from friends and artists, many of whom have works that are found in my collection, to consider giving back and assisting in helping me through this challenging period. Any monetary gift of love and support is deeply appreciated.

I am launching this creative GoFundMe campaign to raise $2,500 to:

1. Secure Proper Storage: Pay the outstanding storage fee that is due by July 2, 2024; and

2. Relocate the Valuable Art Collection: Remove and transfer the collection to a more reasonably priced climate-controlled, secure environment.
