Support Lyn's Journey to a New Kidney
Donation protected
Hello! This isn’t for me; it’s for a wonderful, kind, and generous friend. A couple of years ago, her kidneys started to fail, so she needed a kidney transplant. It took a while, but a perfect match was found. I’m not in the medical field, so this may not be exactly what happened. The kidney she received worked for a while, but Lyn became sick with a virus in the new kidney. After many trips to Portland for treatment, it was determined that the infected kidney had to be removed, which was performed a few months ago. She has been on dialysis for the past year or so. She moved to Palm Springs a few years ago to play golf and hang out with her friends. Lyn’s doctors are in Portland, Oregon, and she travels back and forth often for treatments. The good news is, again there is a perfect match for a transplant. Lyn needs to go to Portland and stay close to the hospital for 1 month, renting a house for her and family. She needs to stay 3 months in Portland post surgery. Lyn found a small condo for her and Winston for this part of her journey as well.
Here is her story! “I’m one lucky lady - a kidney transplant opportunity. My daughter, Andrea (so appreciative of her doing this and saving my life), is a match, so we have a surgery date of March 17. My son, Nick (amazing he’s coming to help and so appreciative), will come up and take care of us both for over 2 weeks. We need a 3-bedroom place for 3 weeks to a month, and it has to be in Portland near the hospital as we go to the doctor 3 times a week.”
Lyn also has a wonderful cat (Winston) that travels with her all the time. But this time, he can’t go. He also needs to be boarded for part of the trip.
If you can, please give and make this Portland trip one last thing for Lyn to worry about.
