Bring My Love Home
Mothers, what did you do today? Did you make breakfast for your kids? Your partner? Did you get your kids ready for school before you, yourself, had to hurriedly prepare for a long workday ahead of you?
Ma is a mother who gets up every day like any mother out there: makes her family breakfast, helps get her kids ready for the school day, then rushes out the door to her job.
But today she is sitting in a compound alone. She will not send her 3 young children to school on Monday. She will not go to work and continue to contribute taxes to this country. She is not a drug courier. She is not running a con. She is not the head of a criminal conspiracy.
She is a wife. A sister. A mentor. A friend. She is a mother like so many out there. Every mother who sees this and for anyone who has ever had a mother, we cannot turn a blind eye and watch as her children wonder where their mother is or when and if they'll ever see her again.
The request is simple: Ma needs our help with whatever we can. We have all done more for less in our lives. Help a mother get back to her family.
My fiancé, Ma Yang, was taken by ICE agents without anyone knowing. We did not get to say goodbye and for days her whereabouts were unknown. My fiancé, our sole provider, caretaker, our family is gone, in another country. Her five children and I are left behind mourning the greatest loss.
My fiancé has spent the last 3 years working to make amends. She pleaded guilty and served her time. She was told doing so would not affect her permanent resident status in the United States. But soon after, it was brought to her attention that pleading guilty caused her immigration case to be opened.
She is a community member and taxpayer of South Milwaukee and has only known America as her home. Her mother and father fought alongside the US Military during the Vietnam War and due to their service of saving American soldiers, were promised protections. When they arrived at the refugee camp, awaiting resettlement, she was born in Thailand in the refugee camp. Hoping to be protected, they left their home to start anew in America. She knows no other home but here.
As of right now, Ma has no identification or legal documents. The time frame on this is unknown until we find legal help for her. Currently, Ma is on a compound with armed security, in Laos, with no resettlement plans. She does not speak the Lao language and is unable to communicate with the guards. At this point, everything is unknown—
Again, my family and I are asking for your help. With your monetary support, we can pay legal fees and help our family stay afloat while Ma is gone. We are desperate to her back home! $Myang1025
