On Saturday, September 14th, our sweet Macy Faye was the passenger in a single car rollover accident where she was taken by ambulance to Tacoma General, and then life flighted to Harbor View Medical Center. Once arriving at HVMC, the team of doctors assessed her injuries where it was determined Macy was in need of emergency surgery to her head and face.
Once Macy was in recovery, the amazing staff at HVMC went to work on her other injuries. She was under the care of several medical experts, which included a plastic surgeon team, occupational therapy, speech therapy, oral maxial facial team, and ophthalmology team. Because Macy’s team is so big and complex, her treatment plan is intense, and she is currently in need of continuous care. Both of Macy’s parents have had to take leave from their employers and for 12 days drove daily travel to HVMC to be by her side and her advocate. Macy has been released from HVMC and now staying with her parents to help care for her needs and will continue her recovery. Macy has had to take a leave from her employers, and it is anticipated her road to healing will take several months.
When Macy graduated high school in 2022, she moved to Kennewick, WA where she was able to continue her love for children and became a full-time nanny to an amazing little girl that she loves as her own. She also works at a beautiful wedding venue where she can help families celebrate one of the best days of their lives. She has been living on her own as an independent woman and loving her life! She rents a home, has 3 cats, has a strong friend group, has discovered her love for horticulture, and enjoys the amazing Tri City weather. However, because of the injuries Macy has sustained, Macy will not be able to return to her home in Tri Cities.
She will be required to stay on the west side of the state because of her many medical appointments, surgeries/procedures, and extra care that she needs for her basic living. Macy is currently unable to complete various tasks unassisted and undergoes daily uncomfortable wound care on multiple spots on her body. Things like showering, getting dressed, and reading all now require additional help.
Based on the complexities of the situation, Macy is going to need support within multiple capacities of her life. You might be wondering how you can help or what does the family need. Here are some ways you can help, pray, and pray that Macy's attitude stays positive, as we know her mindset will play a pivotal role with her progress as she continues to heal mentally and physically. Next, pray for the medical professionals, their wisdom, steady hands for surgeries, and that their care plan that supports Macy’s future independent living and well-being. After you are done praying for Macy and her medical team, please pray for her family, who have been supportive in every capacity and helping her cope with this significant trauma.
Lastly, many of you know that when trauma happens, the financial burden can be overwhelming. There is a way in which you can help ease the stress of the abundance of current and future medical and living expenses. Based on the medical team’s recent assessment, it was determined that Macy is going to need outpatient care for the foreseeable future. With future medical bills, added accommodations to their home, her parents taking leave from their jobs, and Macy not having an income anymore, a GoFundMe has been put in place.
Macy and her family's hearts are beyond thankful for all of God's blessings and they truly cannot express their gratitude for the abundance of support and tremendous love they have felt during this trial by all of their friends and family. Not a day goes by that it does not go unnoticed and are beyond thankful to each and every one of you.
