Support Madi & Jakob's Baby's Medical Journey

Hi, we are Madi & Jakob Amundsen's family & we are asking for your help.

At 22 weeks pregnant, Madi & Jakob had a routine ultrasound & it was discovered that their Sweet Baby Girl has a Congenital Diaphramatic Hernia (CDH). They were referred to Children's Minneapolis & have a wonderful & skilled team of experts at the Mother Baby Center. After an extensive ultrasound their Dr, Cardiologist & Surgeon explained that the hernia in Baby's diaphram has caused her stomach & small portion of the bowels to move up into the upper chest cavity which then moves her heart & hinders her lung development. Her arteries are functioning great as well as her lungs. All of babies other organs are below the diaghram where they should be & that is wonderful news. There were no other anomolies found or suspected so there is tremendous optimism Baby will do well the rest of the pregnancy & after birth. There will be an MRI & routine ultrasounds done at Children's with her team to monitor her with optimism that Madi can carry to full term. They have high hopes for a happy healthy future but there are some tough roads ahead for this sweet pea & her wonderful parents. When sweet baby girl is born she will need intensive care & surgery to repair the hernia. The first few days will be getting her lungs & heart regulated & then she will be ready to have the surgery. The surgeon said babies tollerate the surgery well but she will need to stay in the NICU for 2-3 months to ensure she heals well & there isn't a reherniation. Even though there is a small chance it can reherniate there are high hopes that she will lead a happy healthy life once she is fully healed.

Prayers for their Drs, Nurses, Surgeon & Mother Baby Center Care Team to stay healthy & strong. Prayers for relieving the worry & pain. Prayers for the weight of expenses to be lifted. Prayers for our Daughter, Son & Grand Daughter.
