My name is Sarah McVey. A long time Facebook friend named Mahmoud John reached out to me the other day. Him and his family need to flee to a safer location. Here is his story.

Hello,

My name is Mahmoud joha , and I am a lawyer living in Gaza. I have always dreamt of using my education to advocate for justice and support my community. However, the ongoing conflict in Gaza has severely impacted my life and my family's well-being.

The war has caused massive destruction to our home and workplaces. The devastation is overwhelming, and we have lost so many people we love. This loss, combined with the constant threat of bombings, has made it incredibly difficult to find any sense of normalcy or stability.

I have been forced to leave our home at the 7 of oct from the north to the west seeking safe place. We have been forced to leave the places we went to in the west more than 8 times due to bombings. For now we are, living in a tent in the mid of gaza. I hope we find safety here. The constant displacement has made it nearly impossible to feel secure. The psychological toll of living in fear and uncertainty has been profound for both me and my family.

Living conditions are dire. Accessing basic needs such as water and electricity is extremely challenging. I often have to walk miles every day just to fill our gallons with water. Additionally, thefts have become common, it’s like hunger games here with thieves stealing food and other essentials. Without adequate power security, it is no longer safe to live here.

Our main goal is to survive and secure the funds necessary to escape the war zone and start a new life. Your generous contributions will help us find a safe place to live, access essential supplies, and rebuild our future. With your help, we can leave the conflict behind and work towards creating a better life for ourselves.
