Support Dave Posey Medical

Hi! Shari here, I'm starting this fundraiser to help Dave & Annie Posey with medical expenses that will continue growing as Dave begins to heal.

I doubt there are very many people in the East Helena area that haven't been touched by their kindness, or food! Who hasn't been on the receiving end of being told to Eat! Eat! Eat from their goodies shared from Main Street Eats or Black Jack Burger? Let's help these two out!

Dave was in the hospital in Juneau, Alaska for 12 days. While he is covered by insurance here in Montana, they learned that nothing was covered as this was "out of state".

Dave and Annie were in Alaska on a fishing trip celebrating their granddaughters graduation when Dave, due to diverticulitis, had a rupture in his gut. He had intense stomach pain and a 104 ° fever. Being in a remote location & because of bad weather, air flight was impossible & he waited 2 days for the scheduled transport to get him to the Juneau. ( a 2 1/2 hour boat ride!)

Upon arrival Annie got Dave to the hospital where after examination, he was immediately admitted to CT scan showed an internal perforation. He had 130 heart rate, very high blood pressure, very low oxygen, fever, intense pain, & was septic from the infection. While they tried to treat him without surgery, after a 2nd CT scan he was taken immediately in for a colostomy.

After several scary days he started showing signs of improvement. The doctors were still concerned because Dave's Tcell count is high which could be a sign of complications or infection, but the Posey's were intent on coming home & continuing Dave's care & recovery in Helena.

There will be continued care needed and several weeks of recovery, and if everything goes well, in a several months Dave will have to under go another hospital stay to have surgery to reverse the colostomy.

This is a long haul, but, with proper care, lots of love, & prayers, we hope Dave will have a full recovery.
