Support Manoj Nair and his family through a medical crisis

This GoFundMe has been set up for our dear friend Manoj Nair, who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and collapsed at home last month.

Those who know Manoj can vouch for his cheerful personality, his affability and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He is a loving husband and father, a loyal friend and a dedicated Scout adult leader for Troop 95 in Sharon, Massachusetts.

On March 13, Manoj was found unresponsive by his son, Rishab, who had just returned from school. Rishab quickly called 911, and Manoj was taken to the nearest hospital. Doctors there found significant bleeding in his brain, and Manoj was airlifted to Boston Medical Center. As the medical team at the BMC Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit worked tirelessly to take care of Manoj, his family and friends waited and watched, praying for his recovery, oscillating between optimism and despair.

As of today, Manoj has not regained consciousness. In the aftermath of the stroke, he suffered a major heart attack, seizures, pneumonia and infection of the gall bladder. All of this has left his wife, son and friends reeling, but hope endures. We are still pulling for him, and we hope he is pulling for himself, as well!

What lies ahead is hard to discern. But the urgency of the situation and the financial burdens it places on the family are clear. The hospitalization, ancillary post-hospitalization care, long-term rehabilitation, loss of income -- all of this entails a lot of money, the kind that can overwhelm a family and destroy its financial security. Additionally, Manoj has been unemployed for more than a year.

Our goal through this GoFundMe is to support Manoj with his medical expenses, provide Priya some financial stability, and ensure that this crisis does not derail Rishab's future as he heads to college.
