Support Manon's Long Road to Recovery

Dear friends, family, and community,

As many of you know, my sister Manon experienced a traumatic accident on 8/11/24. She suffered severe injuries to her head, brain, and internal organs. She has been in the ICU at MarinHealth Medical Center since. Her first surgery–which was supposed to take 3-4 hours surpassed 10 hours due to the extent of her injuries. She remains on life support, in an induced coma, but stable. Her recovery has had ups and downs so far. She will face another surgery in a couple of weeks and likely more after that.

Her medical team is wonderful, caring and dedicated. The team has been incredibly supportive, even helping us create an altar in her room, honoring her spirit. We are immeasurably grateful and blessed to have this particular group of health workers. Doctors say she will likely need to stay at an inpatient physical therapy hospital for quite some time, depending on the severity of her condition. This will be a very long road we are told. At this time, her condition remains largely unknown.

That said, Manon exhibits unusual strength and vitality. She has responded to language. She is able to make small movements for her care team. She hears us and can subtly respond. She overheard a doctor say it was uncertain if she would walk right away—she very subtly wiggled both feet. This made her doctor very, very happy.

We are all holding her so close, physically and spiritually.

All this wonderful care is costly. Very costly. The bill for her long term care will be immense. If you are able, we greatly appreciate any contribution toward these increasing costs. Big or small, anything will be most gratefully received and become a supportive part of her recovery.
