Manuel Yepez is one of the best known faces on San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands. From a fishing family, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to build a small responsible fishing business and a local tourism operation. Manolo has always supporting folks wanting to get ahead - from sponsoring the community soccer team to supporting conservation scientists out in the field. His commitment to the conservation of his beloved islands led him to be declared Mission Blue Hope Spot Champion for the Galapagos Marine Reserve in 2020.

In early 2021, Manolo was diagnosed with a tumor. He has just started treatment, and with his characteristic strength and good humor, we just know he is going to beat this! Manolo has medical insurance that covers 80% of his treatment. If we can come up with the remaining 20%, he can focus all his attention on getting well again, and getting back to supporting his community and islands!
